Rosary of the Most Blessed Virgin - variation

Variations:
5 Joyful Mysteries (prayed on Mondays & Saturdays)
We enter the events surrounding the joyful coming of our Lord.
1st Annunciation to the Blessed Virgin Mary
The angel Gabriel came and said to Mary “you will conceive a child and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus.  He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High God.”  Mary replied “I am the Lord’s servant”.
Let us ask Mary for the gift of humility to always accept what God brings us in our life.
2nd Visitation
Soon afterward Mary got ready and hurried off to Zechariah’s house and greeted Elizabeth.  When the latter heard Mary’s greeting, the baby moved within her.  Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit and said in a loud voice “You are the most blessed of all women, and blessed is the child you will bear!”.
Let us ask Mary for the gift of unconditional love and charity towards our brothers and sisters.
3rd Nativity of our Lord Jesus
While Mary and Joseph were in Bethlehem, the time came for Mary to have her baby.  She gave birth to her first Son, wrapped him in cloths and laid him in a manger – there was no room for them to stay at the inn.
Let us ask Mary for the gift of the spirit of giving to those in need.
4th Presentation of our Lord Jesus
Joseph and Mary went to Jerusalem to dedicate their child to God.  When they entered the Temple, Simeon took the child in his arms and gave thanks to God “Now, Lord, You have kept Your promise, and You may let Your servant go in peace.  With my own eyes I have seen Your salvation, which You have prepared in the presence of all peoples: A light to reveal Your will to the Gentiles and bring glory to Your people”.
Let us ask Mary for the gift of obedience to offer our Lord all the blessings he has given us.
5th Finding of our Lord Jesus
After Joseph and Mary searched for three days, they found Jesus in the Temple, sitting with the teachers, listening to them and asking questions; all who heard Him were amazed at His intelligent answers.  “Why did you have to look for me?  Didn’t you know that I had to be in my Father’s house?”  But they did not understand His answer.
Let us ask Mary for the ability to always trust and love God even when we encounter difficulties in our lives which we cannot understand.
5 Luminous Mysteries (prayed on Thursdays)
We enter the Lord’s public life through His teachings and miracles.
1st Baptism of our Lord Jesus
Jesus arrived from Galilee and came to John at the river of Jordan to be baptized by him.  As soon as Jesus was baptized, He came up out of the water.  Then heaven was opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God coming down like a dove and lighting on Him.  Then a voice said from heaven “This is my own dear Son, with whom I am pleased”.
We ask Mary for the grace to be open to the changing power of our Lord in our hearts.
2nd Revelation of our Lord at the Wedding of Cana
Jesus, Mary and his disciples went to a wedding celebration in Cana.  When the wine had given out, Jesus’ mother said to Him “They are out of wine”.  “You must not tell me what to do; my time has not yet come”, He replied.  Mary tells the servants to obey Him nonetheless.  Jesus requested the jars used for purification to be filled with water and then served to the man in charge of the feast.  It was the best of wine!
We ask the Blessed Virgin Mary to intercede on our behalf in all our times of need so that Jesus may bring light and love in our dark moments.
3rd Proclamation of our Lord Jesus of the Kingdom of God and His call for our conversion
After John had been put in prison, Jesus went to Galilee and preached the Good News from God.  “The right time has come”, He said, “and the Kingdom of God is near!  Turn away from your sins and believe the Good News!”  Jesus invites the fishermen Simon, his brother Andrew, James and John to follow Him to catch people for the Kingdom of God.
We ask for a spirit of repentance and trust in God’s mercy as we seek to be with God through all our actions.
4th Transfiguration of our Lord Jesus
Jesus took Peter, John and James up on Mount Tabor to pray.  While He was praying, His face changed its appearance, and His clothes became dazzling white… a cloud of light appeared and covered them with its shadow; and the disciples were afraid as the cloud came over them.  A voice said from the cloud “This is my Son, whom I have chosen – listen to Him!”
We ask Mary for the grace to allow the transforming light of the Lord’s presence to enlighten our vision.
5th Our Lord Jesus gives us the Eucharist
“The bread that I will give you is my flesh, which I give so that the world may live… if you do not eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you will not have life in yourselves.  Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood have eternal life, and I will raise them to life on the last day… those live in me and I live in them.”
We pray for a stronger faith in the presence of our Lord in the gift of the Blessed Eucharist we receive.
5 Sorrowful Mysteries (prayed on Tuesdays & Fridays)
We enter the mysteries of Christ’s suffering and death which He had to undergo for our salvation.
1st Agony of our Lord Jesus in the Garden
Jesus took Peter, James and John with Him to Gethsemane to pray.  Distress and anguish came over Him and He prayed His Father that He might not have to go through His time of suffering.  He found His disciples asleep and said to them “Keep watch, and pray that you will not fall into temptation.  The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
Let us ask the Blessed Virgin for the strength to accept the struggles of our lives and for repentance of our sins.
2nd Scourging of our Lord Jesus at the Pillar
The gentle Son of God is mocked, ridiculed and brutally tortured by being whipped.  Let us learn that salvation does not come from greatness but from humility and suffering.
Let us ask the Blessed Virgin for the strength to accept the sufferings in our lives and may that lead us to salvation.
3rd Crowning of our Lord Jesus with Thorns
The soldiers made a crown out of thorny branches, and put it on Jesus’ head.  They beat Him over the head with a stick, spat on Him, fell on their knees, and bowed down to Him.
May we always give great respect to our Lord, Christ the King!  Let us ask the Blessed Virgin to enable us to remain humble.
4th Our Lord Jesus Carries the Cross to Calvary
Jesus went out, carrying His cross and came the “The place of the Skull”: Golgotha… there they crucified Him.  Jesus took His sufferings like the poor and the oppressed.
Let us ask the Blessed Virgin for the gift of patience to accept the trials in our life and to work our way out of them with patience.
5th Death of our Lord
At three o’clock Jesus cried out with a loud shout, “My God, My God, why did You abandon me?”  With a loud cry, Jesus died.  The army officer who was standing there in front of the cross saw how Jesus had died.  “This man was really the Son of God!” he said.
Let us ask our Mother Virgin Mary to show all of humanity her love and to lead us to her Divine Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.
5 Glorious Mysteries (prayed on Wednesdays & Sundays)
We enter the triumph of our Lord Jesus in His resurrection and the birth of the Church in all of its glory with Mother Mary as Queen of Heaven!
1st Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ
“Don’t be alarmed” the man said, “I know you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified.  He is not here – He has been raised!… now go and give this message to His disciples.”
The resurrection of Jesus has changed everything for us, our sorrow has become joy, our darkness into light and our despair into hope.  Let us ask Mary to fill us with new life and unending faith.
2nd Ascension of our Lord Jesus
Jesus said to them “The times and occasions are set by my Father’s own authority, and it is not for you to know when they will be”… after saying this, He was taken up to heaven as the apostles watched Him, and a cloud hid Him from their sight.
Let us ask Mother Mary for hope to help us always set our hearts on the rewards in heaven and not the material rewards here on earth.
3rd Descent of the Holy Spirit
The believers who were all gathered in one place saw “what looked like tongues of fire which spread out and touched each person there.  They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to talk in other languages, as the Spirit enabled them to speak.”
Let us pray so that we may always love and use the gifts of the Holy Spirit to spread the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
4th Assumption of our Blessed Mother
God needed Mary to fulfill His plan of salvation.  She is the flesh and blood of Jesus, the holy one whom the Lord would not allow to see corruption.  When her life was over, both her body and soul were taken up into Heaven.
Let us ask our Blessed Mother Virgin Mary for the grace of a happy death.
5th Coronation of Mary
Mary is crowned Queen of Heaven and Earth.  Her dress was the sun and she had the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head.
Let us ask our Blessed Queen in Heaven to help us have faith in the word of the Lord and endure all the trials in our life so that we may be rewarded with eternal happiness.
